EXPLORE THE BEAUTY & THE MAGICAL NATURE OF KERALA

If you are thinking of a small escape from the bustles of everyday life and lost in some green lands then just pack your sacks  and set out to explore the majesty of Kerala. It is like God has reared up Kerala with extreme care and affection. Kerala,the damsel of Nature is located on the south western tip of India,in the west of which is Arabian sea and the Western Ghats,elevating 500-2700 m on the east. The beautiful province is divided into 3 portions mainly-the coastal Lowlands,the fecundating Midlands and the Highlands. Tiruvananthapuram is the largest city and the capital of Kerala.A lot of people has opted Malayalam for their medium of communications and its also their official language. English is also broadly spoken but it seems Hindi has failed to acquire places in the hearts of Kerala. Kerala stands first in the terms of literacy in India.

Alleppey is mostly famous for its backwaters, the main attractions of Kerala. Here the fresh water of the rivers of Kerala comes in touch with the waters of Arabian sea.Well decorated house boats and  Sikaras are available there to take you far in the mid of this watery Heaven.Vallam Kali is very famous traditional boat race of Kerala and tourists are attracted by their snake boats. Nehru Trophy snake boat race is also a very popular boat race of Kerala. Afternoon/late-afternoon can be chosen for the ideal time of boating. So many Ayurvedic health centres, conducted by the experts are located  in the edges of the backwaters and various lakes and offer a lot of health treatments including Ayurvedic spa, body massage and facials in the  pleasurable natural settings.

Kovalam beach,13km away from Trivandrum is the most exoteric beach of Kerala .The fame of the scenic beauty of Kovalam beach is not only confined to India,but in the foreign realms also. It has three adjacent beaches, shaping like a waning moon.The lighthouse beach is the most famous among them.Very few beaches are as tidy and lucid as Kovalam. The highly picturesque sight of kovalam beach, decorated by a lot of coconut trees and outcropping holy rocks is akin to the beauty of those sceneries we used to see in our childhood drawing books. People rush here to take pleasure of swimming and to explore the  beauty of the crystal clear bluish tide and the silver like gritty sand is ideal for an evening walk. So many sea facing hotels and resorts provide an array of amenities and out of the eyelets of which one can spend ages gazing at the mesmerizing beauty of Kovalam beach.

Midlands are a composite area of wavy hills & beautiful Valleys.A large part of Kerala is covered with Thengu(coconut trees) & cashew, banana, rice are also grown here. Malayali folks are generally brave, hard working, honest and peace-loving. The main thing of the Keralites which strikes me the most is the love for their traditions,rituals,cultures and endless devotion to their gods. Their love for guests and contentment with what they have are quite noteworthy.

Munnar is Sui generis (unique in itself). The solitude & tranquillity of Munnar are enough to steal your heart.Tea,coffee,coco grow rich here & from kids to oldies all are tempted by the home made chocolates of Kerala,easily gettable at the markets of Munnar. The graceful gardens of tea--a most popular beverage,add more charm to the beauty of Munnar and it is a strong reason for the international fame of Kerala.

The beautiful speed boating of Mattupetty dam is one of the best things to do at Munnar during which wild animals can be seen from the very close without creating any disturbances.

Anamudi is the highest mountain of kerala & Ernavikulam National Park is located here which is the abode of the wild goats,Nilgiri Tahr.

Onam,the 10 day festival is the greatest festival of Kerala. It is celebrated on the honour of King Mahabali,a remarkable king in the histories of Kerala.

Thiruvonam, Bakrid, Vishu festivals are also celebrated with great pomp and flamboyancy. Padmanabhaswamy temple, located at Trivandrum is the richest temple of India. Saree for the women and white dhoti for the men are only allowed here. Not only a huge amount of golds but also a lot of mysteries are hidden there.

   A highly famous Indian classical dance form Kathakali is an essential part of Keralian tradition. Putting a lot of colours on their faces & fitting themselves in heavy outfits, they perform with extreme skillness. The dexterity of their magical eyes is beyond description and will leave you unwinked.

Kerala is a magical land of love and merry making, of swiming deep into the dazzling sea, of lake-boating, jungle trekking, jumping in the mystical ditches and so on. It is also an ideal place for destination weddings. It is almost 10 days past we left Kerala but whenever I look back, I find the green land standing still and beckoning to me to visit her again.
